Today started off nicely--the class I usually dread the most actually went quite well. The next always goes well, and even in the third class, which didn't have a homeroom teacher, my co-teacher actually stepped up to the plate for once and gave the children instructions (all in Japanese of course, but that's better than none). Then in fourth period I wasn't even sure that there was a class because I didn't have a lesson plan for it, but it turned out that there was. The homeroom teacher had a lesson plan, so it worked out okay, but without a textbook or lesson plan I was flying in the dark.
While going to lunch, my co-teacher and I discussed strawberries that were on our plates. She said that she loved them, and I said "Then please have mine." She didn't understand, so I said several variations, like "Please take my strawberries", always very slowly. She only understood when I mimed the action of giving her strawberries. Her English ability frustrates me sometimes.
I hadn't heard anything about fifth period, but I did know which lesson plan would be used if there was a class so when the bell rang I was prepared to go. A couple of minutes later, my co-teacher looked into my room and mumbled something, then stormed off. I followed her to the classroom where all the students were standing up and waiting for us. While the homeroom teacher and I taught the class, she sat next to a student in the back and cried. I don't know why. For sixth period once again I had no lesson plan, and my co-teacher said that she had left the plan up to the homeroom teacher, but when we got there she realized that the homeroom teacher wasn't even there. So I basically made up a plan on the spot. It was stressful for me, and I don't think it was a good lesson plan so I felt bad for the students too (they are, if I had to choose, probably my favorite class). As much as I love the students and the majority of the teachers at this school, I'm counting down until my last day (only nine left!)

I was invited to a teacher's house party. It was a lot of fun. I tasted the best wine and the best sake I've ever had. I spoke a lot of Japanese.
